Overview

We’re supporting a major UK defence programme and are looking for an experienced Safety Engineer to join the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) on the flagship Euston Programme.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure that directly supports the UK’s submarine fleet

As Floating Dock Safety Manager, you’ll ensure the safe design, delivery, and operation of a major floating dock capability—working at the heart of a complex engineering programme.

You’ll be responsible for:

✅ Developing and maintaining Safety Management Systems

✅ Producing Safety & Environmental Management Plans

✅ Delivering robust Safety Case assessments & evidence

✅ Engaging with key stakeholders across the programme

✅ Ensuring compliance with MOD safety frameworks

Specific job skills

Location & Details

  • Abbey Wood, Bristol (Hybrid working)
  • Travel to Clyde ~twice per month


Essential skills and experience

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
  • Proven experience in:
  • Implementing system safety policy
  • Using system safety management tools and processes
  • Awareness of:
  • MOD Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management Systems


Desired skills and experience

  • Maritime platform experience
  • MOD system safety training
  • Safety & Environmental Management Training (SEMT)
  • Nuclear Induction Course (NIC)

Membership of a relevant professional safety body

Eligibility Checks

Candidates must be SC cleared UK nationals.
